HOW TO ACHIEVE MORE WITH LESS

I came across an article from Atlanta Lifestyles and Homes Magazine where they asked local designers for savvy solutions for decorating projects.  One of my favorite questions asked was "How do you achieve more with less?"  Here's what they had to say (I've provided visuals for those of you who may need inspiration images):

1.  Buy that expensive fabric that you love but use it in small doses. Great pillows can make a huge difference; you don’t have to do your whole sofa in that fabric. - Liz Williams

2. Keep your sofa and chairs in solid fabrics. Add a pop of color with pillows. Invest in a fabulous, unique coffee table. Find a simple object for a wall or above your fireplace and you’re done! - Kay Douglass

3. By creating a new plan with pieces a client already owns. Devise a new furniture plan, move rugs and art around. Then finish it off with a new paint color; paint is the least expensive and most effective way to update your look. - Mallory Mathison

4. By simply prioritizing, deciding what will give you more bang. Sometimes one great thing does that more than three or four ordinaries. - Carole Weakes
5. Repetitive use of one object—like a fabric or pattern—creates lots of volume. But beware; too much of a good thing isn’t always a good thing. - Kelly Crago Hanson

In decorating your own home, what have you done to achieve more with less?

You know I'm all about painted furniture, and I definitely agree with using the expensive fabric you love in doses.

I really need a subscription to AH&L. I don't know why I keep sleeping on it!

More for less, great topic! I try and re-ding existing pieces I already own and give them new life. I also shop Craigslist and Thrift stores looking for Gems.
I also buy nice fabric for a little more in small quantities 1 to 2 yards.

Oh my goodness, I think we were destined to be friends. I posted the same ottoman in my round up, but hadn't realized you had too. Shows you I should really stalk your blog more for creative ideas!
