USING PHOTOGRAPHERS TO TELL YOUR STORY

So, I'm in the process of redesigning my website and decided the first item on my agenda is to have my jobs shot/reshot by a professional photographer.  I know...having a professional to shoot your job can be pricey, but consider it an investment in your business.  I hired photographer and close friend, Katlyne Hill of Katlyne Hill Photography to capture two of my most recent spaces, my kids rooms.

I hired Kate, not just because she's my friend, but because she is also a storyteller.

Through her lens, she captures...

and...

These above photos were chosen purposefully and should give you more clues regarding one of the rooms I designed. If you are looking to hire a professional photographer and live in the Atlanta area, Kate is a great resource. Please email me for her information.

If you live elsewhere, I recommend reading these two articles for more insight and advice on photographing your space.

What Every Designer Should Know About Photography and Styling for Photo Shoots both written by Maria Killam.

Have you ever used a professional to photograph your interior spaces? Do you do your own photography? What advice do you have for photographing interiors?

You're such a tease, Erika! I can't wait to see the kids rooms! I've been waiting patiently for the reveal!

And on another note, can we get a picture of my friend Ava?!

Erika, I agree and then I disagree. Take a look at this video. I have a friend here in Dallas that is photographer too, and love his work. Nothing like a PRO

but I think you might change your mind a little once you look at this.

Erika, thanks for these links. I have never used a professional photographer myself but my realtor has and there is a huge difference. This is on my list of things to investigate!

What a great idea! I love the shots you have of her at work. You can tell that she is good at capturing the essence of a room by getting down on level. I hope they all turn out well for you.

I have always taken pictures myself (even of my kids). A lot of times it is trial and error, but I can usually find a few pictures that capture the look I want.

Have a great week!

Great video Tonia, but he had mad lighting equipment AND knew what to do with it! His model was gorgeous...

These shots look great! I'm lucky to have a boyfriend who has a DSLR and a great eye for photography - so I'll be using him to shoot my rooms! ;)

and you always do such a good job of telling the story with your photographs, Erika! I think the investment in a professional shooter is absolutely a wise one. Lighting, the right lens, the details make a huge difference. Working on the funding (or perhaps my all time favorite, a barter)!
