TWO-STORY DRAPERY INSTALL: THE BEFORE

High'em high and hang 'em wide is my mantra as I prepare to have my family room drapery installed today. It all started back in January when, by default, my husband watched an episode of the Christopher Lowell show and saw the before and after of a two story drapery installation.  You can read about that here...All of a sudden his ears were open to what I had been trying to tell him all along! He being the visual creature that he is had to literally see it for himself before giving the final O.K. Here's what the room looks like now:

And here is the look we want to achieve!

No, not the color palette. He would throw the tantrum of the century if I decorated the family room in purple, HA! I'm talking about the drapery...four simple, pinch pleated panels hung from floor to ceiling.

With much guidance, he chose the fabric and hardware. Here's the lesson: you have to make your partner feel a part of the design process. It will always help you in pushing your design agenda!

So wish me luck friends! No matter how many installs I do, I'm nervous each time. I'll be sure to post pics once the install is complete!

Someone needs to write a book about how to convince a husband of going along with our ideas in decorating. I've been married 9 years and I've just about got it figured out for us, but I wish it had not taken that long!

Love this teaser - can't wait to see your finished project. So sweet to involve your husband - I usually ask for an opinion then do whatever I was going to do in the first place (hee hee) Glad I found your blog and happy to be a new follower. Please stop by sometime.

Erika, I am LOVING the look of your posts, the graphics! (and of course the content...)

Oh, good luck! You are a wise woman to have this done for you. Two houses ago I did this myself, in a very similar looking room. First I sewed the two story drapes and then my Dad and I hung them. Yikes...never again. But the result was just what I was hoping for, made the room warm, literally and visually! I can not wait to see your after! Janell
