There's a ton of festivities going on in and around Atlanta next month, this one I will surely attend! My friends over at Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Atlanta have invited us to join them for the unveiling of the winning project in SCAD's At Home: Atlanta Design Contest.
Five students created design boards using stocked merchandise from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams and were judged by three panelist, MGBW co-founders, Clinton Smith - Editor of Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Magazine, and noted interior designer Beth Webb. The winning design has been chosen and will be brought to life on November 7th in the MGBW Buckhead Showroom. Join us!

ON THE [GOODWILL] HUNT IN ATLANTA
What are y'all doing? Was the #1 question I heard all Saturday when Dayka and I toted 15+ people around to 4 of the best thrifting spots in Atlanta. It all started with an afternoon phone call from an excited Rashon Carraway a.k.a. Mr. Goodwill Hunting about pulling together a nationwide shopping event, I Love Thrifting. I don't remember him ever asking me to lead a group. I just kinda said yes.
We're hunting bargains. We're making new friends. We're connected by a common interest. We're making that dollar holler! We're saving bucks, Chuck! Wouldn't you ask the same question if you saw us standing in the aisles with matching shirts and posing for the camera?
Look at Sweet Anna on the far left. She joined us on assignment for HGTV, but it looks like she found a way to mix business with pleasure.
I wholeheartedly believe we had the best group of women shopping with us. Half of us raided the home decor section, the other half combed the clothing racks and would surface with $5 sequined jackets, ball gowns, and such. I declare they were a fancy bunch.
After the first rounds of introductions, we were instant friends. Not too close of friends though. We were all in competition to score the best finds our money could buy.
While no one fought Ellen for that rake, I did have to make sure I got my lampshades back from Sherry after taking this photograph. I purchased them both for $10 and in excellent condition.
This was the last photo before we took a break for lunch. We were smiling on the outside but hunger raged on the inside. See below. We noshed and networked at La Madeleine's french cafe and geared up for the next stop. You guess it, another Goodwill.
More of the same went on here except this time we were joined by a television camera from 11Alive, one of Atlanta's local news stations. No photos of this but I swear it happened. I got a tweet from a few folks saying they saw us on TV, but no video to prove that either. By this time, I was fried and needed a nap. On my way out the door, I spotted two of our group members who also shopped 'til they dropped.
If you made it to the end of this post, you deserve a treat. Here's a free download of the thrifting tips Dayka and I pulled together for our guests. Dayka is the queen of vintage and she offers lots of valuable advice for anyone doing some discount shopping. Take a peek and let us know what you think! Until next time!

MG+BW ATLANTA HOSTS ROOM SERVICE ATLANTA
Last night Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Atlanta graciously hosted Room Service Atlanta (RSA) in their Buckhead showroom for a soiree that brought awareness to our organization, revealed the work we completed at Nicholas House, and informed party goers about opportunities to participate in the Room Service Atlanta shopping event. Now through May 29th, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams will donate 20% of all full priced purchases to Room Service Atlanta when you mention our name. How awesome is that?

Just when I thought I was really excited, my husband [Chris] arrived! Thank you Sweetheart for always supporting me!

JONATHAN ADLER'S ATLANTA DEBUT
Last night, Atlanta tastemakers gathered in masses to welcome Jonathan Adler's boutique to the Westside Provisions shopping district. With him he brings his signature Happy Chic Anti-Depressant Design Aesthetic—kinda like the happy pill that never wears off.
"Mr. Clashing is Dashing" himself greeted party people with smiles and autographs of course. I purchased one of his latest books, Happy Chic Colors, full of tips and advice on mixing bold colors and how-to's on creating the same vibe in your home. Considering that this is my second time meeting him in less than a year, at this rate we'll be old friends in no time.
And now for the tour...
For those who have been scouring the Southeast for a Cameroonian Juju hat, come here to snag one off the wall.
I don't think I ever cared about a needlepoint pillow until I met Jonathan's splashy assortment. Hard to pick a favorite, isn't it?
This isn't your grandmother's pottery unless she too is under Jonathan's Happy Chic Decorating Regime.
Salt n' Pepper, please!
It's amazing how many faces you recognize at these events, but don't always know the person's name. The folks below are both old and new friends no need to ask their names nor feel like a reporter...
1st image: Cinda Boomershine (cindab bags) 2nd image: Tasha Moody (Simply Staged Atlanta) and Kristin Davis (KFD Designs)
1st image: Jonathan Adler signing a masterpieces 2nd image: Cristi Holcombe (Charm Home)The above vignette has been voted my most favorite! The swanky linen prints are absolutely worth a second look.
If you are in the area this weekend, be sure to stop by the store and see what all the fuss is about. Thank you to Liz Lapidus PR for the invitation and the instant attitude adjustment. Love live Happy Chic!

PILLOW TALK & COCKTAILS WITH AMERICASMART ATLANTA
Last Saturday, I along with four of Atlanta's hottest design bloggers, spoke at a AmericasMart's panel discussion, Pillow Talk and Cocktails. Prior to the seminar, we were each given a pillow form and asked to design a cover based on our inspiration and current design trends. Other discussion included blogging and its benefits for interior designers and retailers.

The brown pillow (floor right) with the contrasting rosettes was designed and fabricated by yours truly. For this design I drew inspiration from the beautiful reclaimed wood furniture and lighting we are seeing everywhere from showrooms to showhouses.

Our one of a kind pillows were given away as door prizes for the guest!
A huge thank you to the folks at AmericasMart for the invitation! We all had an amazing time!
l-r: Sherry Hart (Design Indulgence), Kari Fisher (Buy Well, Buy Once), me, Dayka Robinson (Meditations on Life and Style), and Capella Kincheloe (A Curated Lifestyle)
