HUES YOU CAN USE: SIERRA NIGHT

Dark rooms really don't have to feel dark. In this renovation by Anne Turner, former Cottage Living editor, she uses muted tones to bring warmth and refinement to a cookie cutter cottage. Would you try this look in your home?

Yes! Very warm and sophisticated, and what my eye really notices are those pendants in the kitchen!

Yes, I like it! I love darker colors on the wall, especially mixed with warm wood tones.

You know what my favorite part of this disign was? the kitchen with the cream top cabinets and the green lower cabinets. And of course the chandelier in the dining room!

I'm not a huge fan of greens but I like this one because it has some grey in it. Beautiful!

Very pretty, Erika. I am stepping out of my light muted comfort zone and going with a smoky teal in my family room. Can't wait!

Yes, I love color. I think that that's always the premise of a great design! I'm actually thinking of using something similar for our master bedroom - more of a pear green and grey to complement our light bamboo blinds:) Liz

YES, I would DEFINITELY try this look in my home! I love that the trim is painted grey instead of white. And the dark colour on the walls is beautiful.

I have a real love of deep wall paint colors, maybe because I rarely see it in use and have seen how gorgeous it can look. I agree, dark colors doesn't mean dark room, just a fantastic atmosphere. I would never have picked the wall color of in the photo for myself, it's way too green, but when I see it up, it looks magnificent!

Love this post! Pratt and Lambert has all but disappeared from Northern Virginia! Love them. Think they were bought out by Sherwin-Williams, but what a brand. Keep the color combos coming, Erika. Nice seeing you on #intdesignerchat last night!
